Former CAAC Executive to Lead Abacus in China
Strong experience and presence differentiate Abacus International in China
Abacus International, Asia Pacific’s leading provider of travel solutions and services, has promoted Mr Jack Zhai Fu Hua to Chairman of Abacus China in preparation for the deregulation change by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), which will take effect on the 1st of October.
Mr Zhai, formerly the General Manager of Abacus’ China operations, will be responsible for China-specific strategies in light of market opening as well as expansion of the China operations and team. He will report directly to Mr Brett Henry, Vice President, Commercial and Marketing Division, Abacus International Pte Ltd.
“Jack will be an instrumental piece in establishing our leadership in the China market. With his vast experience in the travel industry and CAAC, I am confident we will be able to deliver upon key strategies and enhance our strong foothold we already maintain in the market.” said Mr Robert Bailey, President and CEO, Abacus International Pte Ltd.
Overseeing the market presence Abacus has in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Chengdu, Mr Zhai looks to leverage his extensive 25 years of experience working in the air transport industry, including stints at Beijing Asia Pacific Cargo, CAAC, Air China, Snecma Services and Singapore Airlines in China.
“I am honoured to be a part of Abacus’ growth in China, especially now with the recent CAAC policy reform in regards to distribution partners like Abacus,” said Mr Zhai. “I am eager to start in my new role to further the great work that the entire team here in China has already done in working with airline partners, travel agents as well as TravelSky. I see Abacus increasing its presence and size even more in the coming months, and ultimately help spur on additional growth in the China travel market through our great service and innovation.”
China is continuing to grow steadily at an exponential rate, and has always been a priority market for Abacus throughout its evolution.
“China’s dynamic travel market with consistent double-digit air travel growth is a key driver for Asia travel and tourism and a top strategic market for Abacus,” said Mr Bailey. “We have been working with local travel players for many years now, as evidenced through numerous awards and partnerships we have signed. We are prepared to propel this growth even further with the right people in place to help support this.”
Abacus International has signed numerous agreements with strategic travel partners including Juneyao Airlines, Far Eastern Transport and TravelSky, the dominant provider of information technology and commercial services in China’s air travel and tourism industry.
